Cambelts

What does a cambelt do?

The cambelt, or timing belt, is one of the most important engine components because it regulates the way your engine works by synchronising the rotation of the crankshaft and the camshaft. Like most engine parts, it does eventually wear out, and if it’s left it can snap which can cause some very expensive damage to your engine. On older vehicles, this could even cost more than the value of the car itself.

There aren’t any signs that warn you that your cambelt needs changing, so it’s worth checking your owner’s manual to see what intervals the manufacturer recommends. If you’re not sure, get in touch with Winsor Garages, and we can check the health of your cambelt and replace it at our workshop in Clacton-on-Sea.
